Two Layered, Ruffled Quilt

This quilt was one of those, need to finish this year projects. I was really excited when Erica, the master quilter stepped in to help me bind the edges.

This quilt is very simple and not much to it. The kind of quilt for those that claim to sew but not quilt can do. My little girl has a twin mattress so I sewed a  39" X 75" quilt. Here is a good measuring guide.

I used just the outside pieced fabric and a fleece on the back with no batting. I put them together using Erica's How To Layer A Quilt guide.

The ruffles are two sided. I made very long tube like strips and gathered them as I sewed them down. I tried using just one piece of fabric and folded and sewed down the edges for the ruffles but they weren't full and laid down very flat. When I added the back layer of fabric to the ruffles it made them more full and I found it to be easier and quicker to put together.

Erica helped me finish the quilt by just folding the top around to the back and machine sewed it down.

I love it, I am glad it is done and I am now ready to move onto pillows.

SO cute! You'll have to show the pillows, I can only image how adorable those will look. Great job!

I need more details about the ruffle tubes. How wide are they? Are they two or three or four times longer than what you wanted the finished ruffle to be? I need to make a quilt for Shyann's bed that has been bare for two years and this might be the solution. I started something and I just don't like it, but I think I can salvage the fabrib for this.
