Block #3 - Flower Basket

For a full tutorial read more. . .

Cut out all of your material

Background:
       2 - 3 1/2 inch squares (A)
       3 - 3 7/8 inch squares (B) (3 for 3 colors)
       2 - 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 rectangle (C)
       1 - 6 7/8 inch square (D)
Basket:
       2 - 3 1/2 inch squares (E)
       1 - 6 1/2 inch square (F)
Flowers:
       3 - 3 7/8 inch squares (G) (3 for 3 colors)

Next make half square triangles using "B" and "G".  Layer right sides together.  Draw a line diagonally on the wrong side of the fabric.  Sew with 1/4 inch seams on each side of the line.  Cut on the line and iron open.

Layout finished squares and sew rows together.  Press seams going opposite directions to line up your rows like you are shown here.

Next draw a diagonal line on basket piece "F".  Place it in the 'corner' and sew on the center line.  Trim off bottom two layers, press open toward the corner.

Sew background "C" and basket "E" together, you will have two sets.  Attach one set to side of finished piece and press outward, then attach last set on adjacent side, press outward.

Then draw diagonal line on back of background "D".  Lay piece in 'corner' like you did earlier.  Sew on center line, then trim bottom two layers and press towards the corner.

Now you have finished one more block on your way to an awesome quilt.
